Induction furnace steel plant · Sahnewal Kalan, Ludhiana
Steel Manufacturing. Powered by Progress.
Unistec Ferrum Private Limited melts ferrous scrap in a 9-tonne induction furnace and casts it into steel ingots for rolling mills, with captive solar power in our energy mix.
Who we are
An induction furnace steel plant in Ludhiana.
Unistec Ferrum turns ferrous scrap into steel ingots, the starting material that rolling mills shape into finished steel.
Our melt shop at Sahnewal Kalan is built around a 9-tonne induction furnace. Selected scrap is melted, brought to the composition each order requires and cast into ingots ready for rolling. We integrate this steel manufacturing with captive renewable energy from a 5.6 MWdc solar plant owned by Kular Green Energy Private Limited.
About Unistec Ferrum
How we make steel
From scrap to ingot, one heat at a time.
Steel at Unistec Ferrum is made in batches called heats. Each heat follows the same five steps.
- STEP 1
Raw-material selection
Melting scrap, motor scrap and turnings, checked on arrival.
- STEP 2
Induction melting
The charge is melted in our 9-tonne induction furnace.
- STEP 3
Composition adjustment
The melt is brought to the composition the order requires.
- STEP 4
Ingot casting
Molten steel is cast into moulds and solidifies as ingots.
- STEP 5
Dispatch
Ingots are loaded and sent to rolling mills.
The heart of our plant: an induction furnace that melts the charge electrically, heat by heat.
The induction furnace
Electric melting, controlled heat by heat.
Alternating current in a water-cooled copper coil creates a magnetic field that heats the scrap from within until it melts. No fuel is burned in the charge, and each heat can be worked towards the grade an order needs.

What we make
Steel ingots for rolling mills.
Our ingots are reheated and rolled by mills into long products such as bars, rods and sections, which go on to construction, engineering and industry.
More about our ingotsCaptive solar power
Steel manufacturing with renewable power in the mix.
An induction furnace runs on electricity, so our energy supply matters. Captive solar power from Kular Green Energy Private Limited’s 5.6 MWdc plant contributes renewable electricity to our operations. It does not supply all of it, and we make no “green steel” or emissions claims.

For scrap suppliers
Supply scrap to our furnace.
Our induction furnace runs on ferrous scrap. We buy four grades, from vetted suppliers only.
- Melting Scrap
- Motor Scrap (stripped stators & rotors)
- CNC Turnings
- Nut Turnings
